    HF44991 / Xylotex Upgrade

Attached is my plan to add a CNC4PC C41 Spindle control to my Xylotex / HF 44991 setup. I blew everything up trying to add a CNC4PC C6 Spindle controller and Arturo recommended the C41 as an upgrade.

Can you guys point out my mistakes, I'm sure there are a few...

    Thanks,
    Rod

I don't have the C41 but you need to be careful with the GND on the spindle board since it is not at 0V potential. It is isolated from the mains so it may be at a higher potential than the C41 common GND. You are effectively creating a short circuit by connecting the C41 GND to the P3 line on the spindle. You need to make sure that the GND on the C41 analog output is isolated and that should be the ONLY GND you use with the spindle controller card on P3.

What's missing from the diagram is a 12V source. The 5V source will only power your C41 card, not the 12V analog output which controls the spindle card. You need a separate source for that and I don't see that on your diagram. Add a second 12-24V wall wart to power the analog output. Use only the + & - analog outputs to P2 & P3. Do not connect any GNDs to P3.
