    Router Spindle on G0704

Since it isn't all that difficult to remove the entire head on a G0704, I was thinking maybe it would make more sense to make a mount for a high RPM router spindle for use when doing high speed routing on things like carbon fiber rather than trying to upgrade the G0704 motor itself. Use the stock head for regular milling and then switch out to the router head for routing applications. Most of the motor mods I've seen look like they don't get high enough rpms for routing anyway, and are more expensive than a typical spindle. Has anyone tried this?

Why go through the trouble of removing the head and having to retram every time.
Just mount a removable aux spindle (there are all kinds) on the side.

And no you don't lose any travel, the table still moves 18 inches, mount your part 3 inches to the right if you need all 18.

Thanks Hoss, I saw your video right after posting my message using the auto-search links the forum provides. I like your idea better, I just figured the hand wheel would get in the way and getting a rigid attachment might be hard. I suppose I could just remove the handles though. Not having to remove that heavy head to go back and forth is a definite plus.
