Wiring Gecko G320X to PMDX-126 BOB?

    Hi all,

I am doing a conversion of a Bridgeport mill (which has a defunct Anilam CrusaderII system) over to PC control.

I am using Gecko G320X driver cards to power the original SEM DC motors and a PMDX-126 BOB for connection to my computer. I will be using Mach3 software.

I have called PMDX but they defer recommendations regarding this, which seems odd since they sell both components. But PMDX is fine with reviewing my proposed circuit drawing so I guess that is how that goes. BTY, PMDX has been great up to this point with providing me extensive advice on my project.

I would be miles ahead if I had even a "straw horse" circuit drawing to work from showing the Gecko/PMDX union, so having that would go a long way toward creating a final schematic.

So, can any of you supply me a diagram that shows connections between the Gecko card(s) and the PMDX BOB? That would be super. Thanks!

    Hello,
    Have you seen this http://www.cnczone.com/forums/bencht...n_rf45-25.html
You can make drawing from color of cable.

The connection diagram for step and direction signals for
a G320X is shown at the top left of Figure 1 in section
2.5.2 of the PMDX-126 manual here:

    http://www.pmdx.com/Doc/PMDX-126_Manual_16.pdf

Example mechanical home and limit switch connections like
those used on Bridgeports are show in Figure 3 in section
    6.1 of the PMDX-126 manual.

Information about interfacing to the fault and reset logic
of the G320X is shown in this application note:

    http://www.pmdx.com/Doc/AN004_GeckoRestart_02.pdf

Information on connecting encoders to the G320X is shown
    in the G320X manual here:

    http://www.geckodrive.com/gecko/imag...0Formatted.pdf

We highly recommend following the procedures in the G320X
manual for testing the encoder interface before even trying
    to connect to the PMDX-126.

Randy is making an accurate statement when he says that PMDX
declined to provide a machine wiring diagram for his Bridgeport.
We feel that there are too many variables and too many different
machines for PMDX to engage in creating specific machine diagrams.
As he states, we recommend that the user research his machine and
attempt to create a diagram which PMDX will review and for which
PMDX will provide advice on changes if needed. This process helps
the user understand the wiring and helps us understand the machine.
