    After being properly assembled and fitted this router base is looking much better. I do have a question. Why does the tabletop rest on 2 small pieces of extrusion? Why isn't it mounted directly to the base? That would seem like a big gain in rigidity.

    Yes, much better.

    Now I'm not entirely sure why he did the table like he did. It bows in the middle quite easily as it is. I guess he just didn't want to drill any holes in the table extrusions. No idea. What I think I'll be doing is drilling holes in the extrusions and bolting them directly to the base, including the center supports. That will make it more rigid as well as give me another 25mm of Z axis.
