    Post question / hole drilling

I've got a question about posting (I think).

The post for my Bridgeport BOSS 8 (I actually use the BOSS 5 post because it's all that's available for V24) outputs peck drilling cycles as canned cycles. The post as delivered from Bobcad gives the Z depth as incremental but it doesn't move the tool to the clearance plane, so it just drills air.

I changed it to output absolute Z depth, which as I understand it will work but will peck drill air from the Z home.

Is there any way to get it to rapid down to the Z clearance before starting the first drill cycle?

There is a BOSS 9 Post for V24, will that not work for you ? ?

I tried it out and it seemed to be outputting a rapid move to the hole coordinates and to the Z clearance height I set, anyway, here is the code it generated, have a look and see if it will do what you want/need.

Rob, good catch. I'll give the BOSS 9 post a try.

I still would like to know what setting it is in the post which determines whether or not it rapids to the clearance plane before drilling, though, as even if you modify the post to not used canned cycles it still drills air for quite a distance.
