    What is a good bob?

I have been using romax encoder interface board and then shorted it out and have not been able to get a hold of them using email. I am about to install hall-effect switches onto the machine and could use some way of interfacing either with second parallel port or usb

the romax encoder board had 4 15 amp relays on it which would have come in really handy for the vacuum and router, but this isn't a requirement. Trying to keep losts low at this point.

A good Bob is one who is honest, kind and hardworking.
I aspire to be known as a good Bob, but I'm not for sale.

More fun and very easy to put one together yourself, added advantage that it can be customized to your control voltage and the interface to suit your components.
Most BOB sellers try to cater to most applications and also on occasions do not publish how the inputs are conditioned.

    justCNCit,

An interface requirement is also determined by your software. For example, Mach3 uses the parallel port which doesn't work for many laptops. However, a smoothstepper uses either a USB or an ethernet computer connection and can communicate with Mach3. The SS will have two parallel ports for your I/O needs.

Some parallel ports are 3.3V and does not work well with a B.O.B requiring 5V interface.

I'm not familiar with romax encoder and thus don't know what it does for you.

Unfortunately, you are not clear enough for me to help you further. Perhaps you could be more specific or give more details about your system to help us understand your situation, besides asking for a good BOB.
