    Cool OKUMA LC20 NC

I have a Okuma LC 20 NC and i am trying to send the program from the PC to the machine. What mode do i have to be in to retrieve the program.? I understand this machine only holds 1 program at a time. There are no programs in the machine at the present time. When i transmitt the program from the PC top the Okuma, nothing happens and the PC says it is waiting for a command from the Okuma Can you help ? Thanks

This error is usually because of EIA/ISO problem, data length (7 or 8) stop bit (1 or 2) and parity (even/odd). First thing you need to get working is machine to PC. Try switching the EIA/ISO config on you PC first, and see if you start getting data that looks right, even if it's not numbering correctly.

Set the following parameters on the machine:

    Optional Parameter (bit)
    Value
    #1 00011010
    #12 10101011

    Optional Parameter (word)
    Value
    #1 1
    #39 9600
    #54 1

    Set ConnectCNC as follows:

    Common Settings
    Name Okuma OSP5000
    Baudrate 9600
    Data bits 7
    Stop bits 2
    Parity Even
    Flow control Xon/Xoff
    Xon Char. 17
    Xoff char. 19
    Port as available
    Send Settings
    Header String
    Trailer String
Each file should begin with "$filename.MIN%" (without the quotes), and end with "%".
    End of Line Sequence
    Recognize custom EOL
    Replace

Check "%" character Checked. This control requires a "%" at the beginning and end of your programs.
    Skip empty lines user's choice
    Skip line numbers user's choice
Skip non printable bytes user's choice
Skip comments check "(...)" if required
Default folder Folder in which you store this machine's programs
    Start transfer delay user's choice
    Receive Settings
    Header String
    Trailer String
    End of Line Sequence
    Recognize custom EOL
    Replace (checked) 13,10

Im betting since it only holds one program? its a OSP3000 or earlier, so it would have a BTR on it.

Cool 2 programs can be used with this method.

It holds one program, and a PTR, but the trick I used was to use /(skip) on each line on first program so it bypassed that and goes to the second one.
The end of the first program should end with /M30
To run the first program block skip is off. To use the second block skip is on.
Rather tiring typing in programs on the crappy vertical console, isn't it?
Of course, if either program uses block skips then this won't work.
Super X3. 3600rpm. Sheridan 6"x24" Lathe + more. Three ways to fix things: The right way, the other way, and maybe your way, which is possibly a faster wrong way.
