    huanyang 2.2kw vfd problems

hello, for some reason when i push run as the vfd is increasing the frequency the spindle begins to turn, but as the vfd goes past 100 the spindle stops turning and just whines.. the vfd continues up to 400 and no fault codes. have read manual cover to cover tried changing a few settings but no luck.

Does it stop suddenly or wind down to a stop? Can you turn the spindle easily by hand?

Check your wiring. It sounds like you might have lost a phase.

Alternately, check the bearings (you should be able to hear or feel it). If the rotor is rubbing on the stator, the motor drive will fail as the magnetics change.

thank uou, yes the spindle turns freely and as the vfd increases frequency the motor slowly stops. its like it doesnt have any torque to get going.. the motor works fine hooked up to three phase power.

I don't have my manual but you should do a factory reset (procedure is in the manual) and reload the parameters. If it is a programming problem, this will help identify it. Hope you get it going!

If your motor is a 60HZ version then reset your VFD to factory default and try it from there. I ran into similar issues with this over the weekend. I read some very helpful threads saying to set PD003, PD004, PD005 to 400. It took me a few hours of testing and fiddling to realize that configuration only applied to the all in one spindles that run at 400HZ.

After resetting the VFD, it worked like a charm. I then bumped the settings to 60 from the 50 default and I get 1780 RPM's on the motor rated at 1720 RPM's.

    Good Luck, Alan

Thanks Alan, I reset to factory settings and set pd004 and pd005 to 60 and works perfect!! Amazingly simple !!
