I've had my G0704 for months now, but haven't used it yet. I finally got the machine back together and performed the spindle break in. Spindle is fine, but I have a couple questions/concerns. First, in reverse I can only get 1/2 speed, 1200 rpm. Is this normal? Also, only in reverse, the rpm display will blank every few seconds and then come back. It only does this in reverse. When it does it, the spindle doesn't do anything weird. Has anyone else experienced this?

1/2 speed in reverse is normal, blanking isn't.

Thanks Hoss. I figured both of those answers. I guess I will have some troubleshooting to do on the tach.

On another note, I sold my round column mill and have ordered the rest of the stuff I needed to CNC my G0704. I also decided to order some tooling and had seen posts about Shars Tool. While shopping online, I found out that Shars Tool is only about 5 minutes away from my office. Never knew it was there. I don't know if they have a showroom or not, but guess where I will be tomorrow at lunchtime if they do have a showroom.
