    Equipment Validation

For the last year or two I've been programming and running a Partner III and an RW-12, both with the Centurion 6 control. I'm now looking at machines for my home shop and I am wondering what the main difference is between the Centurion 5 and Centurion 6 controls. Is the extra cost of a machine with the Cent. 6 or Cent. 7 control worth while for someone who programs almost exclusively by hand and with CAM software?

That would depend on what your machining. The C6 has a much faster processor, so if you’re doing 3D you would probably prefer the C6. I have both and the C5 is terribly slow at 3D and has no storage capacity. C5 machines are much older and probably due for the scrap heap any way. If you have CAM software then why bother with writing the code by hand?
