My 760 has a noise in the spindle motor that sounds like when I was a kid and put playing cards in my bicycle spokes It does not follow spindle speed but ramps up after the spindle starts
I have gone as far as removing the cooling fan from the end of the motor but I am unsure how to remove the encoder and get it back on correctly
so I can look in the end of the motor to see if something has fallen in there
The mill has been running fine just has this noise in the motor
Any help will be appreciated

Are you sure the noise is coming from the spindle motor?
Have you tried disengaged the spindle belt to see whether the noise is coming from the spindle unit or the spindle motor? You may disengaged the belt and give a M3 command to spin the motor only.

Even if you are sure that the noise is coming from the motor, you should take down the motor from the machine and open up the motor from the shaft/pulley side.

Yes I'm sure it's in the upper end of the spindle motor I have all the covers off and can get my ear next to the source of the noise I just need to know what is involved in taking the spindle encoder off and reinstalling it correctly
