    Supplier of IR laser goggles?

    1. Can anyone recommend a European supplier of goggles for 9229-9317nm and 10200-10800nm IR lasers?

    2. Many of the desktop laser cutters have a transparent window in the top and operators don't have to wear goggles. What material is the window made of for IR?

    Many thanks.

The windows are typically either acrylic/perspex/plexiglas, polycarbonate or glass, all of which are great at absorbing the 10.6um CO2 laser wavelength. Regular polycarbonate safety goggles are usually sufficient for lower powered machines (<100W).

You sure you don't have an extra 0 in those numbers?

And lexan won't protect your eyes, it may reduce power, but 1 watt getting through will pop them like a grape. Laser rated Is the only way to go.

Sorry if this is a bit late:

New HQ CE CO2 Laser Safety Goggles Protection Glasses 10600nm 10.6um | eBay

I am NOT associated with these guys, I HAVE bought spare mirrors, lenses and laser tubes from them without any problems. They post the same day and package well.....

No, not missing any 0's. I have personally tested a few cheap hardware safety goggles, and with a 40W laser, it took a bit over 16 seconds to fully punch through. I have a laser power meter on the other side, and there is no light at all seeping through until it finally punches through, they are more than adequate.
