You can not extend a line or trim a line to a surface that I know of.
Can you post an example of what you are trying to do. You can trim surfaces and extend surfaces.
It may be a case where you create surfaces off the wire frame and extend then extract edges to get the wire frame.....

Hi Al,
What I am trying to do is create 400+ ball endmill sized pockets in the bottom of a mold. I was hoping there was a quick and easy way to trim the toolpath curves that I was going to use 3d engrave on.
I do have another idea to project the spline segments to the surface of the mold and then add a line at a zero angle but in the z axis from the end of each projected spline segment. The start of that line should be at bottom surface of the mold. It worked on my test sample, so I will try it for real later.

If you are looking to create a texture in the mold that is a "ball" style and there are 400 locations. You might consider trying the plunge roughing tool path. Using a ball mill it might just do what you are looking for....

The main problem is that these pockets are in an involute pattern. It's not just a textured finish.
