Looking for best options for Legend Plates that will be Milled and Laser Engraved Anodized Aluminum Sheet:
1) Material - 0.020" 1100 Aluminum, Black Anodized (sheets come in 20"x12" but not critical)2) Milling Operation -
2A) Holes - Need to make holes and slots into material (used for electronic push buttons, etc (controls). Sizes approx. 1/8" - 3" dia.
2B) Outer Profile - Need to profile outer profile of a few different templates shapes/sizes.
2C) Fixturing - sandwich between consumable plates, tape down to a consumable plate (wood), ?
2D) Milling process recommendation - clearing or profiling?
2E) Post Process Deburring - hoping to avoid this and also any damage to the anodized surface when milling - (tape covering)
3) Laser Engraving Operation - once the Legends are fabbed with holes and the outer profile cut we will load into our benchtop laser engraver to engrave text on the anodized layer.
(HOPED TO FIND A ELECTRICALLY CONDUCTIVE PLASTIC FOR OUR PRODUCT APPLICATION BUT NO LUCK TO DATE SO WE MIGHT BE MILLING)
If another forum here is more appropriate please let me know.
Thanks!
