to much slag from CNC plasma cutting

When I cut 1/4 inch or thicker the drop of slag on the bottom is significant. I have a water table and am using a 625 tomahawk plasma. How do I reduce the amount of drop? I have adjusted the amps, speed, air flow, talked to the table and plasma mfg. So far no clear suggestions on how to reduce the drop slag.

I'm not super-familiar with the Tomahawk plasma, but from what I've read it's not a very powerful machine, so you're probably limited to cutting slower than what you'd need to, to minimize the dross.

For comparison, I cut 1/4" at 45 amps, and 50-52 IPM with great results. (using a Powermax 45)

You probably have a Torchmate table with the Lincoln Tomahawk. Best bet is to work with Torchmate tech service. If the Tomahawk cannot cut dross free on 1/4".....maybe there is an issue that is covered by their warranty?

I use a Hypertherm Powermax45......dross free to 1/2" without issues. I just use the specs exactly as listed in the operators manual....it is used on a Tochmate table as well.

What amperage do you cut 1/4 inch at? What is the max amperage of your plasma cutter?

I have talked to thech support and had the Lincoln guy out to look at the system. No solution at this time.

    I appreciate your suggestion.

These cuts are done with either a Hypertherm Powermax45, powermax65 or Powrmax85 at 45 amps. No dross on 1/4"...clean cuts with straight edges. Cut speed is 60 inches per minute. All are on 1/4" steel....no cleanup done.

You could also try lowering the water level in the table a bit as well. If the water is against the bottom of the sheet, it may be causing some of your problem.
