    machine choice

I was originally looking at making a Momus machine, I liked the look, size and the instructions.

I was looking at making an RC tank, and was also looking at the dearth of parts like tracks and such for the large scale I was looking at(1/6). While the Momus does look to be a durable machine, it's also somewhat small. If I wanted to get into making parts, I'd want a much larger machine, that could take a larger piece of plastic/plywood, so that more parts could be ganged up on one job easier.

Any recommendations for a 2'x4' or so machine? Having the Momus plans(still looking to make it eventually) I know it won't scale up easily.

How much do you want to spend?
Do you want to build from plans, or buy a kit?

The Joes 2006 is a decent machine, but a little smaller than 2x4 I think.

I'm still torn, I plan on micromanufacturing technology for a career, so building would be experience. A prebuilt machine would have more technical support however for starting out.

I'm leaning towards building. For that, I'd say less than $3,000 or so if possible.
