i supplied a multi start thread for a customer that really fell in love with the idea. he now would like me to make a 1/2 dia. shaft that will move 1 inch per revolution. has anyone had experiance with something like this?or does anyone have any ideas.maybe 1/2-4 with 4 starts ?will a 60 degree insert still be ok ? i'm open to sugestions

Your issue would be if your insert doesn't have proper clearance for the desired pitch. Your Okuma can do up to 40 IPR but may be limited by RPM and Rapid rate.

You will also need to watch your lead in distance or acceleration curve.

i've search a little on line for a picture or some type of image the problem i see is turning the male thread there is alot of material to be removed.i found a website with ball screws that concept may be an option. turning the female thread w/062 radius cutter and making a tube with holes to locate 1/8 balls in the proper locations.
