    Laser tube emitting continuous beam

    Hi, All.
I have a question I thought I might ask about my Synrad 48-2 CO2 tube.

    My Problem:
My laser tube has just started emitting a continuous beam, whenever it is on. It started doing this right in the middle of an engrave file last night, and does this whether or not the signal cable from the engraver is plugged in to the tube. I have taken a look at everything, using a multi-meter to see if the signal is being emitted from the engraver, and I am reading almost 5-volts at either end of my signal cable, every time I press the "test" button.

    Possible Reason:
    - I relocated my machine (which is on wheels) a few feet, minutes before this began happening last night. I wonder if I may have run over the cord and created a short in the line (there are many cords), or even broke the signal-jack.

    Another Possible, Mysterious Reason:
    - This behavior is coincidental and unrelated to me moving my machine, even though I have never yet experienced this behavior with my laser tube. Has anyone ever had experience with this happening with a Synrad tube before? The only time that my tube shoots out a continuous beam is when it is not hooked up to any signal wire and I plug it straight into the wall.
Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

    Jon

I think it's time to break out the multimeter and look for a short, or break in the wires.

Still working on that. I am hoping that it is only the jack. The wires seem ok, so far...

try to use a oscilloscope to see the shape of the low 5v puls
or check if the high voltage cable isnt near other cable(interference)
    this happend to me.
