Hi,
I have been looking for the pinouts of Hewlet Packard 5540 14 encoders. Simple you might say? Well I have a couple of these with what I think is a line driver built on. Its a small chip with a ribbon cable attached ending in a 10 hole block or IDC connector. I wanted to keep the line driver and connect direct to the IDC from a Geckodrive 320 so I need the pinouts for it.
I found a pdf from 2 sources which gives the following pins: 1 Nc. 2 +5v. 3ground. 4NC. 5 chA. 6 chA. 7 chB. 8 chB. 9 index. 10 index.
Would this be correct? I ask as i connected as per this and, I think, destroyed a Gecko. DOH! dmed shade tree mechanic!
I know that I could remove the ribbon cable and doing away with the line driver connections what do you think?
Thanks in advance

Dave
