    Okuma Multus Touch setter

    machine :Okuma Multus B400W U OSP-P200L
    error: 1774-01 Alarm A Toucsetter aside 4

In middle of machining process control gives that alarm and machine stops.
    Sometimes, not always.
If i have understand correct machine thinks that touch setter is not at safe position (limit switch must be off for a while). However when checked from diagnostic, it seems to work ok.
I already take out lower plate from bottom of setter. There is little circuit and everything was clean. So limit switch must be under upper plate ?
has anyone never adjust those limits & are limits there ? I have to take whole setter out because chuck is so close.

    1774 Sensor head
An attempt has been made to advance or retract the sensor head while its advance/retract is not possible, or the sensor head
advance impossible state has arisen during the advance movement.
    Sensor head advance/retract---- M117/M118
    [Object]
    SYSTEM
    [Code]

4->The sensor head advance/retract command is designated while the interlocked equipment is not at the retract position.

Sounds like the switch is either no good or it needs adjusting

    it could be two reasons:
    1. sensor "touch setter in position"
    2. touch setter sensor itself
gives a signal (changes the binary state) because of chatter.
    there are two solutions:
    1. use touch setter interlock release M code in part program (ask Okuma service for that code)
    2. set reverse logic of touch setter sensor. This involves a little wiring also.
Anyway, ask Okuma service for this. The solution depends on specification of the machine, it can vary

If your sensor is triggered you should get a sensor protect alarm and not what you describe. I suggest possible switch adjustment under covers by arm base or check touch setter parameters and I believe you can shut off the retract interlock in cases of high vibration.

I have to say I would not rewire it as it is not the best solution to your situation.

    Best regards,

I've seen issues arrise from coolant getting into the swivel base area and getting into swithes etc check these and the drain holes for possible contamination or blockage

    Thanks for info.

    Solution found:

Limit sw is under upper plate of sensor arm.
It just needed little adjust. However to get upper plate off, whole sensor arm must be removed. And that of course meed that sendor must be calibrated again.

    Cheers to everybody
