Arrow clamp a cutting tool in the spindle

I am being so confused about how can a cutter be fixed in a spindle.
As i know. the ATC (Automatic Tool Changer)'s arm just take a tool from magazine then put it into spindle.
But what makes the tool be fixed instead of dropped down.

    Thanks

You use a toolholder to clamp/hold the cutting tool, and the toolholder as a flange that is designed to be use by ATC to grip toolholder to allow the load/unloading of the tool into the machine spindle.
