    Thank you so much for your responses. My intintion is to replace bothe supplies as you guys recommend. The reason I want to to just replace the 5v for now is to make sure that things will startup with the 5v replaced. I have had so much bad luck with the machine I want to make sure there's nothing else going on before I spend a lot of time on a problem that's just hiding underlying issues. Again thanks very much.

    There used to be a monthly tv and radio repair column in one of the magazines way back when.

    Month after month he'd repeat the same theme: Test and get the power supply working first.

    I had a spare power supply given to me for my KM3 , but it was defective so I gave it to a electronic technician to repair
    in case i need it and after some time , he said to toss it as it was not fixable. the Hurco vendor that built the supply ( New York)
    closed up 20 years ago and some of the parts like torrids and chips were not available . he also claimed modern electronic power supplies were more efficient
