Anyone feel free to correct me if I am wrong. Each software uses their own post processors. I use dolphin cad cam as my CAM software and they have a manual that explains the post creating etc.

Im not sure if you are look for any in particular, but on the right bottom of this page, theres a post processor manual.

Catia do not have built in post generator.
But.. Catia have some basic post included. Those are only 3 axis.
IMS or Cenit are third part vendors for posts for Catia
At leasts IMS posts included can be modifield for some part.
Many catia users use separate postprosessor program and custom post is needed if you need more than 3 axis code.

I use intercim for my post processor (from catia) and the company i work for already has everything built depending on what machine i run the job on. Ive been programming for a number of years and im at a point now where i want to take on a challenge on how to develop a post processors themselves. Is it simply using the (for example) intercim software and "plugging" in numbers that pertain to your machine settings. Can the code be written in a program like codewrite and then insert it into intercim?

I apologize if im not making sense, this is something new to me

    thanx
