    Herbert Capstan Lathe

Can anyone identify what the spindle nose is on a No5 Senior monoslide capstan please. I have also been looking for hard chuck jaws to suit a 9" Coventry chuck without much success. I have tried all the usual people in the UK but they can only supply soft jaws. Any help greatly appreciated.

I would expect the spindle nose to be flanged to a Herbert spec.I can get you the dimensions if you like.I think, but not 100% sure that Ward would use the same dimensions.
I have never seen hard jaws on a Coventry chuck,it would defeat the whole purpose of it.
Nothing to stop you making an adapter plate to fit a different chuck to the machine.

Many thanks for the reply, if you could give me the spindle nose dimensions that would be a great help. I did have a Ward 7 with the same type of chuck that had serrated hard jaws, I assumed the Coventry chuck jaws would be similar.
