I have 2 TNC151s & a tnc155 and all do the same, The joy stick does not feed unless the spindle is running.

The pausing at corners is a product of the acceleration & deceleration parameters changing them causes all manner of havoc. I use the round over feature, a radius of .005 on outside corners works nice. You can not round an inside corner but circular moves larger than the tool radius will minimize the pause.

I do not believe this to be so. If you use 'L' moves the transitions should be smooth. using single axis X and Y moves will cause a positive stop at corners.

If it is different there is an off setting in your machine
