    Hi
I have made a 5 axis cnc router and cannot afford a the programs(mastercam, alphacam, etc)to do the g codes and toolpaths.I make abstract sculptures and require sophisticated software. If anyone is interested in contracting this work for a fee/using the machine etc please contact me.The envelope is 1.5m.x1.5m.4m.I am in Melbourne Australia.

    Hi Bernie22,
are you aware that Alphacam have an online version of their software which you can use on an hourly rate? From what I understand you install the software on your own pc and log into the Alphacam website which allows the software to opperate. Take a look at www.licom.com
I'd be interested to see your machine, do you have a photo of it, I live in Geelong, I'd be interested in a visit to you workshop if possible.

    Cheers

Have you considered approaching a college or institute of art and design and offering your machine for their students and instructors to use. The field of computer aided sculpture has entered into the curriculum at some of these institutions and one limiting factor is the enormous cost of commercial machines that are five axis and have the work envelope you describe.

Mach3 can run the machine, but he wants to create the g-code. It can't do that.

I could possibly work somthing out with you. I would need all of your machine parameters, rotational limits, g and m codes, swing length without tool so I could make a post. I use solidcam.

Can't get much better value than CNC_Toolkit..

If you're looking at cost-effective 6 axis GCode generation then you don't get anything better than CNC_Toolkit.. full stop.. that's it... nothing beats it for VFM as a full commercial license currently cost about £100.00

You would need to design and model in MAX software.. like the free version of 3DSMAX called GMax.. but this IS excellent software.. and it's derived from Autodesk AutoCAD going way back to the early days of 3D... It has some limitations.. but these can be avoided without difficulty..

Part 1 and 2 of a brand new detailed user guide for CNC_Toolkit are out TODAY.. available as a free download from the yahoo group in my sig..

Rab Gordon, the creator of CNC_Toolkit has contributed suggestions and has approved the distribution. Part 3 covering the deployment and use of multi-axis rotary configurations is currently being developed and tested...

If you have any interest in GMax/CNC_Toolkit then it's worth a read, so feel free to pick up copy...

It does appear to be a nice multi axis CAM solution, at least to someone like me that does not know anything.

    Smile 5 axis work

    Hi Berni
you only need to send me the file and your machine type, i will send back an approx cost for the programmes. these will be collision checked and will also include :- running times and set-up sheets. i have a customer base that included Vac formers who only want 5 axis trim programmes, can also program on Metric or imperial
