    Question Curious: 32bit and 64bit

    Hi all,

Just a quick yes or no type question.

Can files saved on one format of Solidcam, i.e. 64bit open on a 32bit version, if the version year is the same or later?

Reason, I'm thinking of updating the whole system to 64bit, so do not want to have to recreate everything.

Not sure about your question , but if you run Mach 3 it wont work with 64 bits.

    Software Requirements
Keeping with our home hobbyist roots, the minimum software requirements to run Mach are very reasonable. Below are the specifications for running Mach3 stably.

    Mach3 Minimum Requirements:
    Desktop (using the parallel port)

◦32-bit version of Windows 2000, Windows XP, Windows Vista, or Windows 7 Operating System (64-bit will not work)
    ◦1Ghz CPU
    ◦512MB RAM
◦Non-integrated Video Card with 32MB RAM
◦Basic Computer Skills (ability to copy/rename files, browse directories, etc)

No, this is for CNC machines with fanuc control etc, not that it matters as the computer post suits the machine after. It's just to open my 32bit manuctured files on 64bit system, was wondering if there is any problem

As far as I understand, files create by the same release e.g. SC 2010 etc. can be opened by either 32 or 64 bit software. This is certainly true of SolidWorks because that happens here every day
