    spin indexer

Hi Guys, would anyone happen to know how many degrees apart the 10 holes are on the vernier plate of a spin indexer?

The outer plate has the 36 holes at 10 degrees apart.

I cant wrap my head around the math.

    thanks

I'm not sure what is used on commercial deals but its easy enough to figure out. Here is a list of where the holes would go and what angles you will get:

hole at 0 deg. That will lock in your 0,10,20, etc.
hole at 11 deg. That will lock in your 1,11,21, etc.
hole at 22 deg. That will lock in your 2,12,22, etc.
hole at 33 deg. That will lock in your 3,13,23, etc.
hole at 44 deg. That will lock in your 4,14,24, etc.

You should see a pattern now. Basically each hole is 1 degree apart but since that would put the holes on top of each other, you space them one hole (10 deg) plus 1 deg.

Thanks a lot Matt. That make complete sense. The spin indexer I have been looking at has equally spaced holes, but I cant wrap my head around that.

    Those holes are equally spaced!

Moving ring has 36 holes evenly spaced.
Stationary has 10 holes one every 11 degrees.

You could also do 1/2 deg indexing by putting 20 holes one every 10.5 deg.
