Dear All,

We have got frequent problem of cutter breakage in this machine since last 4 months

Last time when cutter broke, before that machine was quite alright for 16 hours and then suddenly cutter broke, every time cutter breaks we get error SV001 : Y axis excess current in Servo, No alarms LEDs on Fanuc Servo drives

Cutter spindle is mounted on X-Y plane & Workpiece spindle on sliding base(Z) axis.

we dont doubt any synchronisation failure between 2 spindles because machine is ok even may be for 3 shifts (ie 24 hours).

Yesterday we found chips got clogged in front of the sliding base(Z), operator feedback suggests that every time cutter broke, chips found trapped as flushing coolant not working

Kindly advice that is it possible that trapped chips obstruct movement of sliding base when sliding base moving in cutting feed (which is low) during interpolation & due to that uneven load comes on vertical axis(Y) and cutter breaks and finally error SV001

Both Servo Drives (For X,Y & Z,B) recieved from Fanuc after thorough repair at their repair center

Linear scale active in X & Y, Heidenhain scale in Z not working since a very long time (that means much before than the cutter breakage started in this machine)

All machine parameters quite intact and checked as per Hard copy recieved with the machine around 15 years back
No such abnormality noticed in machine

Kindly advice for the above

Best Regards,

M. Rishikesh
