Need advice for new plasma machine

I just got a custom built CNC plasma system. Its not a name brand system but it was turnkey and a great price.

It came with a Chicago Electric 40A plasma torch. At first I was turned off by this until I saw it cut. The kerf width was smaller than most hypertherm or thermal dynamics units I had seen. The torch is a trafimet s45 torch.

It the test cuts it cut were great 3" cir = 2.997 4" square 3.957

Problem = the builder is not a cnc cutter he is only a builder, we guessed at cut speed / height ect. When we tested it out before I purchased.

The Chicago electric does not include any specs for cut height, cut speed or amps for any material thicknesses.

Can anyone help me with a chart that would work for this 40A machine?

Will any chart from any manufacure work as long as its a 40A machine?

    Thanks,

You should go back to the torch and plasma supplier for cut charts. When you buy a system from Hypertherm, there are many pages of cut parameter charts in the operators manual, these were developed in engineering labs at Hypertherm to provide the best cut quality and consumable life for our customers. Since torch designs are drastically different, these types of charts may work as a starting point, but will not be exactly what you need.

Surely the Trafimet engineers can help you?
