Looks like it.
Do you have 3 phase power to run it?Precision Drive Systems is the Exclusive Authorized Sales and Service Center for G. Colombo spindles in North America.
ANd are you aware that it's probably at least $6000, not including the VFD?

yes I am aware of the price but I want to get the best, I am really sick and tired of the chinese 2.2kw spindle motor (I think it's a junk). I have 3phase in my place so no problem with that.
Btw should I get the ISO30 or the HSK F63?
and what other things I should get to run this kind of motor other than vfd? AC line reactor? air compressor? and that thing to measure and set the endmill to the tool holder what do you guys call that thing?
Thank Gerry!
The HSK toolholders are better, but cost twice as much as ISO30's.
You do need clean, dry air for the toolchanger.
We don't use a tool setter, we just make a test cut and measure to calibrate the tool length.

How is the HSK better than the ISO? is it more stronger, precision?? I don't believe they cost twice as much though.
Is the tool setter expensive? and how do you measure the way you do? just make a test cut and measure the cut part???
btw I was looking at FIMEC the other day they cost 3000 euro for the same unit.
How good is FIMEC Gerry?
I have an industrial air dryer for compressor and I think I would need air filter for air outlet?
HSK's are shorter, and more rigid. I used ISO30's for the last 10 years, and they needed to be replaced frequently. I now use HSK's and like them much better.
A tool setter is about $1000. I just measure with a tape measure to get close, make a cut, and measure. Only takes a minute.
You'll probably want a tightening stand, like this.

HSK holders are more complex than ISO holders. They have two bearing surfaces: the taper and the back face of the flange. HSK holders don't use a pull stud and don't suffer from pull stud distortion issues. The high speed dynamics of HSK holders are better as well.
Here is a nice brief write up I found: http://www.akhurstcnc.com/hskiso.htm
There is a lot more information to be found by Googling.
bob
thank you guys, but how about FIMEC? anyone knows the quality?
oh and HSK F63 have short nose and long nose which one is better?
and also do I need an AC LINE REACTOR between spindle motor and inverter the power is 7.5kw 380V
The shorter the better.
I've never seen a Fimec, and don't know if you need a line reactor.

Welcome to my paintings website - www.wholesaleartmall.com
Hi angelababy what makes you sick of 2.2kw chinese spindle? I've got problems with them one of them is that when I'm cutting sometimes it just stop dead but the vfd keeps on going. I've look at the prices almost twice as much but don't know if it really worth it to go with hsk f63. the price difference of FIMEC vs COLOMBO is so obvious but they both are made in Italy. I think I would give FIMEC a try

I too am looking at a ATC system and considering Colombo 10 HP unit but have been quoted over 10K for the unit alone . After reading this thread I tried to have a look at the Fimec site but didn't get too far.
What is the cheapest source for the Colombo units and is the Fimec equivalent better value?
