    Water cooled spindle 2.2kW settings

    Hi
    Can You help setup my water cooled spindle 2.2kW.
    I have got inverter
    ABB ACS 100 ACS101-4K1-1 2.2kw 230v 1to3ph https://www.inverterdrive.com/group/...V/default.aspx

    Spindle
    1) Spec:φ80*205 mm (Diameter:80mm x Length:205mm)
    2) Power: 2.2 KW
    3) Voltage: 220V
    4) Frequency: 100- 400 Hz
    5) Current: 8.5 A
    6) Speed: 8000-24000 R/min
    7) Water Cooling

    This inverer has 250Hz max. Can I connect this spindle with him? (lower speed)
    RPM on inverter is only 3600 so How Can I get 24000RPM?

    can you help me to setup parameters for this spindle on inverter.
    Manual https://www.inverterdrive.com/file/A...l/default.aspx

    Thanks Pawel

    Hi Pawel,

    For 2.2 Kw spindle to run at 24000 rpm you will need 400 hz, with 300 hz you can go upto 18000 rpm, which would be suitable for normal mode of operations on wood. But i prefer you to go for delta vfd with 400 hz to attain maximum speed. What kind of spindle control are you using to explain the setup on the vfd.

    At this time I have to use this inverter https://www.inverterdrive.com/file/A...l/default.aspx
    I think that speed will be enought for me.
    Spindle I bought from solar.jean http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...=STRK:MEWNX:IT
    On a inverter Max RPM is only 3600 rpm, Can u tell me how I should set 18000RPM.
    I dont know really how to setup inverter to control spindle?
    cheers

    Have you set the vfd group 2 settings.?

    They should be set something like this
    201=220
    202=50
    203=9.5
    204=3600
    205=8.5
    206=400
    207=100

    I,m not too clear on 203 i think it's used with another setting 502 to monitor thermal protection and needs to be set slightly higher than the max current 205 so if the motor draws more than this amount it shuts down.?

    Hope this helps.

    Just realised the vfd wont probably let you set 206 to 400 and it's max will be 300. This will just mean that the max speed will be 18000rpm

    It doesn't work properly. On inverter's screen AL10 "overcurrent controller active"
    Spindle is working but very slow on screen is 2.7Hz frequency and current 9.2A.
    My setting:
    101 - 108Hz
    201 - 220v
    202 - 50Hz
    203 - 9A
    204 - 3600rpm
    205 - 8.5A
    206 - 300Hz
    207 - 100Hz
    208 - 2
    209 - 0
    301 - 1
    302 - 0
    303 - 5s
    304 - 5s
    305 - 1
    306 - 10
    307 -0
    308 -1
    401 - 0
    402 - 100
    403 - 100
    404 - 300
    405 - 1
    406 - 5
    502 - 300

    I conected pot 4.7k ohm but doesn't work.
    You have any ideas why?

    I change parametrs like this:
    202 - 300Hz
    206 - 50Hz
    207 - 50Hz
    306 - 0
    403 - 0
    404 - 50
    Is working no errors but I cannot go to fast.
    For what is 306 parametr?

    Try changing 206 to =300 this is limiting the speed to 3000rpm or 50hz.
    Then i think you'll find youcan turn the Freq upon the control panel to a max 300hz or 18000rpm.

    If I reduce the output frequency to 75 hz the inverter runs ok. If is more I have the overcurrent fault. Can I do enythink to set higher speed?

    I have got 74Hz and current is 7.9A, is it correct ? 100Hz and current is 9A. Doesn't matter what will be setup (250 Hz) I have got AL10 "overcurrent controller active". Can I drop down current ?
