    Software question

Pls. Forgive me if this isn't posted in the correct area.
Been conventional machining for a while, but just recently been introduced to a FANUC WEDM. I've been handwriting my programs @ work (no computer access) but wanted more practice at home. I've seen cheap/free CAD programs here and there, but was wondering if there was one that could spit out g-code from my CAD drawing, and maybe even draw out my handwritten g-code. I mean, I know there is software but was looking for something affordable/downloadable. Just need something 2D, super simple as I don't have to deal with tool heights or cutter dia etc.

I know it sounds like a weird situation, but any info would be greatly appreciated!!!

Check out cncsimulator.com, they may not have a WEDM machine simulation, but it is worth a look, its free!.

Dolphin Partmaster. I dont use the Wire EDM myself but they do have a package for that. I use it for my mills and lathe and highly compliment it.

    CADCAM Program

I wonder if you have looked at CamBam. It is CAD/CAM and really does a great job on 2.5D stuff.

They have a free download that will give you 40 or so full uses before it limits your use of the demo program. Overall price is also very reasonable and they have a very active forum as well.
