    Simple Assembly Question

I am still trying to get to grips with Solidworks, slowly getting there!
One small problem is really bugging me at the moment.
If I have two parts in an assembly and use a reference hole on one part to 'drill' a hole in the other part, when I save the assembly the hole is missing in the part because I created it in the assembly.
I have attached a simple test assembly showing the problem.
If you load the assembly all the holes appear correctly.
If I load part bracket A it does not have the two holes in it that I created in the assembly.
Is there an easy way to get Solidworks to save the holes into the actual part?

    Thanks

    Andy

    1) Use the hole wizard as an "assembly feature" and do the complete hole series at the assembly level.
    2) click on "edit part" BEFORE you transfer the hole to the second part - then you have a relative hole installed at the part level.

Thanks fabconv, that does exactly what I want, I knew it would be something simple!
I design Electrical enclosures and I can now have a Fuseswitch mounted in the cabinet with all the cutouts required referenced to the switch itself.
If I move the switch it will now update the fixing holes in the mounting plate part, the cutout in the back panel part and also the cutout detail in the door part etc etc
That will save me a lot of headaches!

Thanks Darebee I will give that a try

I'm new to solidworks as well. I use darebee's method and works for me. I will try fabconv method just to see how that works out. I have found that there are many ways to do the same operation. I like to try all ways a couple times because later on in your quest one operation will work better than the other.

    Smell what I'm standing in?
