    Newbie needs help with servo

    Hi all,

I am a green horn to servos. Previously i did with steppers but not with servos.
    I have with me a Yaskawa SGMAS-A5A2A6C servo and a SGDL-01AS servopack.
I have connected the motor as in pic1. But have another 3 more black wires and a orange wire from the motor, which I do not know where it goes?
And the encoder, white green brown yellow wires where should they goes to?
Is there any good website or reference for me to do some research?
I downloaded the yaskawa manual but I am still confused.

    Thanks for the help.

Other motor wires could be a 24V brake, is it easy to spin by hand?
The white block is likely encoder wires, which should connect to CN2.

Sorry for my ignorance and a newbie in servos.
I guess mine is a brake servo, i couldn't turn with hand. How do i connect the encoder wires to CN2? Which colour goes to which port?
How do i actually program or control the servos? Where should the pulses be input to?
I am using a Microchip PLC to control the servo.

    Thank you

You would have to buy the CN2 mating connector, and solder the wires to it.

I think this is an analog control drive. So you would need an intermediate device to convert step/dir to analog.

after reading the manual, i have change my servo to the SGML series to match my SGDL servopack.
Currently when i wire my servo to the ON mode - pin 13 24V supply, the motor will run continuously. I input 5 v pulses into the CN1-3 it does gives some form of slow down to the servo, but still i am unable to control the direction and to stop or move the servo.
