What machine and control?
If your alarm is indicating tailstock overtravel then you need to find the input for this switch in your electrical prints and look in the inputs on the machine and see if it is made or not. It could be the switch is bad or maybe the tailstock went on the switch and someone has physicaly moved it off but the switch stuck closed due to being gummed up or something. The machine is probably inhibiting any axis movement because it thinks the tailstock is in a position to interfere so it woun't let you move anything as long as this alarm is in effect.
Its a Doosan with a Fanuc Oi. I just did it to old fashioned way I attached a strap to the live center and the chuck and moved the quill to pull it off the switch
There can be an MTB-defined M-code, to ignore the position of the tailstock (e.g., whether extended or retracted). On my machine, it is M83.
