    machine servo problems

    Hi,
I recently bought a second hand lightly used cnc plasma cutter.
I have found it to have erratic line drawing behaviour and this morning while operating a dry run the machine went booloo.

I switched off power and restarted only to find that 'card1' was not found by the software.

    the drives are compax3

I am very tempted to start from scratch with the computer, as although it was built in 2007 it is running win95 and looks quite old.

I am an amateur who is really keen to learn..

    Any suggestions?

    Iain

What software is actually running the machine?
If proprietary to the MTB, then you could try contacting them for support or information.

ah yes, the software is called 'GNC'
I have been advised tht I may be better off using something like 'Mach3'

would that just tke oer the running of the machine?

Depends what type of drives you have, if analogue not step/dir then you would need to replace the drives.
