    Question Fanuc 21-GA_416 Alarm-Axis Disconnect

Machine is an Okamoto Surface Grinder Mod: ACC 8-20EX. 1994 vintage. Fanuc 21-GA control. Original problem: Machine lost memory due to low battery. Machine sat idle for a year. Replaced 3 volt battery. Installed memory from PC card. Powered up machine. When trying to manually Jog or Reference Home Y or Z axes a 416 alarm is generated in what ever axis that is moved first. Servo alarm Param 200 bit #1(FBA) =1 states (Z or Y axis pulse coder disconnect). Servo alarm Param 201 bit #7(ALD)=0 & BIT #4(EXP)=0, ALARM detail states that Pulse coder not connected due to software. Checked Okamoto system config params from their web site and they conform to param sheet. Y and Z axes have Fanuc AC Servo motors Mod: 1-OE Type: A06B-0104-B111. The Fanuc 21-GA Controler is Type: A02B-0176-B01 No.E9430221900. Both Y & Z axes Servo Amps are Type:A06B-6070-H003A (No.E440006 & No.E440004). I don't have any original Data sheet or Param manuals or Servo manuals to check the params of the servos, etc. (The servo motors do work). I have a copy of all the params that are in the machine in PDF format I could email.
Does anyone have any suggestions or a solution for this problem?
