Engine kits, castings, plans & parts.

    Hello all.
I am new to this hobby and forum. I would like to have a nice model but do not have the time to build one from scratch. I have been trying to get details of engine kits, plans etc. I am looking for an engine that has the option of a number of ready made parts. I tried to contact the guy in Scandinavia who makes the Wright Whirlwind, but his e mail is no longer valid. Does anybody know of any links where I could check out engines that meet my criteria and any other avenues I might explore. I live in Maryland, U.S.A.
    Thanks.

What type of engines are you interested in?

    Hit & Miss?

    Aircraft?
    Automotive?

    Single cylinder?
    V twin?
    Inline 4?
    V8?
    9 Cyl Radial?

Bad part is, i don't think there are any parts available. I believe they only sell plans and 1 casting.

I.C. kits, castings, plans and parts.

Thank you for your replies. I am interested in a 4 stroke scale model of an aircraft or automotive engine. I saw the Wright Whirlwind engine on the 5 Bears site (and a few others), but when I clicked on the link I get nothing. Anybody got an address?
Or an address for any others?
    Thanks.

The hard part is giong to be finding someone who sells machined parts. Some of the Hit & Miss guy's sell things like gears, ignition parts and piston rings, but very few. Here is a link to some Wright engine info. There are build articles in strictly ic mag and the back issues are available. Here is some info on some of the other engines and casting kits i like. Good luck on the search.

PS. There are model engine shows all over the country. One in Toledo in june. Try going to a few and you may find something you like and want to take a crack at.
