    Stainless Or Steel

    Hi Everybody
I’m designing a Corn Burning Furnace and I’ve been debating on if I should use Stainless steel or mild steel For my Firebox / heat exchanger. The Firepot will be made out of stainless. I don’t know witch would handle the heating cycles better with out major warping and cracking . Any Idea’s Thanks

Stainless steel pipe would work best....that is what most casting flasks are made of.

I wold opt for the stainless given the fact that as corn in burned it will give of corosive gasses. If you look at most all commerial corn burners they have a stainless firebox and heat exchanger section this is to combat the corosive efects of this fuel source.

69owb, Try 300H stainless. It is made for high heat applications.
