Hi Everyone
This is my first post so bear with me if I ask a question that has been addressed before. I did check though and could not find anything.

My machine is based on a SIEG X3 with a Kflop/Kstep controller using KmotionCNC. I wish to use Kflop's rs232 function to drive an intelligent pendant. Unfortunately I/O45 is being used as the enable signal for the Kstep amplifiers, thus disabling the transmit port. I will probably also have contention with I/O44 used for the receiving port.

So my question is: Can the rs232 lines be redirected to alternative unused I/O ports with Kflop/Kstep combination?

Any help would be much appreciated.

Hi willeme1,

No sorry we don't have an option to redirect the UART to other pins. The only workaround I can think of is to separate the UART signals out of the ribbon cable so they do not go to KSTEP. Then feed other IO signals into KSTEP. The KSTEP Enable signal can be connected to the Screw terminal on J6. IO44 is the PWM input signal for the Analog signal generator on KSTEP. If you need the Analog signal on KSTEP you could wire in another PWM signal from KFLOP in its place.
