    "round over" bit for Mastercam

    Hi All,

I was wondering if someone can shed some light on this. I am trying to use a "round-over" router bit with a mastercam tool-path, but that type of bit does not seem to exist in the tool database?

I want to create a new tool, but in the list, the closest tool that looks like a round over, is a "chamfer" bit, which is obviously different.

Is there a way to create a round-over tool in mastercam, and then use that tool to say round over a contour path?

Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks all!

PS: By the way, using Mastercam X2

You should create a "custom tool".

There is some more information here :

    Custom Mastercam V9 tools!

go here and check out the sample video on thread milling. They define a thread mill profile on a layer and then use it as a tool profile. Looks as if this could be applied to your needs nicely!

    Good luck
