    Torque spec on assembly bolts

    Hi all,

I've been searching manuals and scouring the internet trying to locate torque specs for the various SHCS that keep subassemblies together (e.g.: head, column, etc.) I'm primarily concerned about the pieces that are aligned with the tapered dowels.

Obviously if they are torqued all equally, there shouldn't be a problem with distortion of the casting. I just want to make sure I torque them enough so that they don't back out. Or even worse, too much so that the iron creeps & yields.

I'm going to start crunching numbers to find a safe torque value, just wanted to see if anyone else had already done the work for me.

    Thanks in advance!

    Swede,

Tormach's torque guidelines are on PDF page 181 (marked 9-49) of the current user manual http://www.tormach.com/document_libr...-3-UM-C4.1.pdf

    Best regards,

    Randy

Excellent!! Thanks so much. I torqued them all to slightly less than that because of a conservative calculation I did. I'll torque them up to spec now. Thanks again.
