    Pocketing

Ok, I am newb so excuse the dumb question.

I worked for over a hour last night trying to do a simple square pocket.

5" x 3" stock, with a 4" x 1.5" pocket .1" deep. never could get it to do it. Could porfile it all night long, but no pocket it.

    What am I missing.

Open NC window and set your tool depth settings and turn off 3D.

Now in the drawing menu select Other>Pocket.

In the window select the type of pocket you wish to do. (I like spiral)

Select roughing operation, set tool diameter and other settings as you wish to use.

Then click OK and it will wait for you to select the contour.(see bottom left corner of screen for what Bobcad wants from you)

After selecting the contour it waits for you to select the islands if any.
    Right click when done!
Turn on your iso view so you can see the start line.(3d views)

You now have a 2d path of the pocket.
Next Select the path by holding the shift key and clicking the start line.

Go to the nc side and click the cut auto.

    DONE!!!

I have done several pockets in the past, I love using the siral pocketing feature. For some reason whatever it maybe, When I go do my rough cut. It would go out from my island about five passes. Not clean out the entire pocket. So I was forced to use the horizontal feature then having to use the spiral finish. Has anyone else had this problem.....
