I'm wondering how hard it is to make a dovetail slide
    on a mini mill.
would appreciate any and all advice.

you'll need a dovetailcutter for starters.

for real smooth action you should have them handscraped or ground i guess since all of them do but i remember a guy that made a real nice quickchange fo his minilathe.

in the end its possible but limited is MHO.
Finally CHIPS you can have as much as you can without the doc. complainting about your cholesterol.

    Thanks Irondigit!
That was my first post and it's nice to know there are people out there to talk to.
I have bought a 1/2" and 3/4" inch D/T cutter and I guess I'll try hacking something out soon. Probably in wood first just to get the feel.......
    Thanks again for your reply

make sure you dont mount the part in a way that could make it get squeezed as you remove metal ,this applies especially when milling the inner slides.

    have fun.
