    block skip switch operation

I do not have any block skip switch on my machine, so I cannot test its function. So, somebody may please clarify my doubt. Thanks for your time.

    The manual says:
"Optional block skip operation is processed when blocks are read from memory or tape into a buffer. Even if a switch is set to on after blocks are read into a buffer, the blocks already read are not ignored"

    What exactly it means?

Does it mean that we have to set this switch on before OSRHing (i.e., displaying on the program screen) the program?

Or, can we set this switch on even during the execution of the program, any time before the execution has not reached the affected block (i.e., before the affected block is not pre-read)?

    Sinha,
That is correct. If the line of code that has a blockskip on it is not read into the buffer then you can activate the blockskip button on the machine and it will bypass that line of code.

    >G1X20---line of code being executed
    X50
/X300---if the machine has only buffered to X50 you can activate at anypoint your blockskip and the X300 will not be executed.

What model control do you have? Your Block Skip may be a "soft switch".

    It is 0i Mate TC.
If a soft key is available for this, it would be a new information for me.

If you go to the OFFSET/SETTING function, then [ > ] do you see [ OPR ]? That's where the soft switches are.

Yes, software operator's panel does appear after pressing OPR. It has 3 screens which can be scrolled by page up/down keys.

    First screen:
    MODE
    HANDLE AXIS
    HANDLE MULTIPLIER
    RAPID OVERRIDE
    JOG OVERRIDE
    FEED OVERRIDE
    Second screen:
    BLOCK SKIP
    SINGLE BLOCK
    MACHINE LOCK
    DRY RUN
    PROTECT KEY
    Third screen:
    BLOCK DELETE
    DRY RUN
    PROGRAM TEST
    AXIS INHIBIT
    PROGRAM RESTART

I manipulated several of these settings with expected results. But no setting on the first screen works. What could be the reason?

I believe, only those soft keys work for which there is no hard key available. Am I right? But then, at least RAPID OVERRIDE should have worked. There is no such key on my MOP. Only a feed override rotary switch is there.

    OK. I got the answer.
The keys of the software operator's panel may be enabled or disabled with 7200 series parameters.
