FIRST: Is the fault happening with NONE of the motor cables connected?

If so, then you will need to TURN OFF the G540 internal charge pump switch.

The picture with the case off shows where the switch is. To turn off, move switch toward outside.

You don't HAVE to remove case cover though, you can use a dental pick or bend up a long paper clip and reach in alongside the terminal strip to move the switch toward the outside.

That should turn off the fault light.

I tried both with a motor hooked up and without.

I will flip the switch tonight, when I get home.

    Thanks

Ok I flipped the switch and got a green light!!

So I booted up the computer changed my .ini file from 32000 steps to 40000.

Well, the G540 drove my test motor....kind of...
The motor will go for a little bit and then stall and I get an error message (joint 0 following error or something like that).

Any more suggestions? I tried changing the speed and it would stall faster at a higher speed. Or worded differently it would go further before stalling at a lower speed but I still got the error either way.

    Thanks,

    Frank

I don't know emc. Does it let you set acceleration? If so, lower it. Does anybody know what that error message means?

Yes EMC does let you set acceleration. I did try turning the accel down and still got the error.
