    HRT-210 with conrolbox

    Hello
    I am trying to control HRT-210 indexer with control box via serial port. I want to use indexer independet, without CNC-machine. I am using program named Terminal, downloaded from here:
    velenje.cx - Velenje Resources and Information. This website is for sale!
    Cable has made as Haas manual instructions. DB9 to DB25 1to1,2to2 and so on. Haas manual from here:
    http://www.haascnc.com/pdf/96-0315.pdf
    Indexer parameter has set as follows:
    Param21=1
    Param26=3
    Param33=0
    Terminalprogram settings are as follows: 1200, 7 data, even parity, 2 stop, Handshaking none. Computer is laptop with USB to serial converter.
    When i ask command UP (U axis,
    servo position)and hit send tab nothing happens. Same with other commands. If i connect loopback plug to DB9 connector i will get all back what i have wrote, so Terminal program works. What i am doing wrong.

    RS-232 to rotary control

    Try some simple things:
    1) with PC connected and Terminal running, send program from control. It should appear on screen of PC. If not, check for reverse of Tx/Rx.
    2) If #1 works, try typing in commands at Terminal to be sent to rotary as you type. As commands are seen by control box, step number changes to 00.

    Thanks. Lets try. I have oscilloscope connected to DB25 pin2. I wrote little program into Haas and tried to get it out. No success. Haas display is blinking SEnding, but nothing to see in scope display.
    When send from PC, scope connected to DB25 pin3 shows nice square wave
    Terminalprogram CTS, DSR and CD leds are blinking so i think the port is OK.

    can't send RS-232 from rotary

    If it hangs at "sending", something has stopped output.
    Normally sending takes a few seconds and all data is out.
    That kind of hang has only two causes:

    1) X-off character sent from PC telling control to stop sending.
    Check your Terminal software configuration.

    2) CTS input signal is driven inactive by PC meaning "stop sending".
    You don't need this so try disconnecting it.

    Thanks

    If i use oscilloscope only (no PC at all) to see what happens, what pins i have to connect. Probe between 2 and 7 (transmit data, signal ground) How others?

    RS-232 to control box

    The single axis control transmits in the recieve wire.
    It recieves on the transmit wire.
    That is, it is wired as DCE; not DTE.

    can't send RS-232 from rotary

    Yes, data out is on pin 3 with common ref on pin 7.
    There might be some older units that swapped pins 2 and 3.
    Still... disconnecting cable from control should result in any "send" finishing in a couple of seconds.

    Is RS232 port broken?

    Ok
    Now i have tested it many ways and it looks like RS232 interface is someway broken.

    Tried to send program out from HRT. Empty connector, only scope connected.
    CH1= pin3 and CH2=pin2

    Are voltage levels right. Pin 2 average 280mV and pin 3 -11.4v.
    Nothing change during send.

    Parameters as follows:
    Par 21=0
    Par 26=3
    Par 33=0
