I wanted to share another Inkscape 0.46 tip, about Linked-Offsets.

I have a project that needs to have an offset to the entire drawing, the last video I posted shows how to do a Linked-Offset with a radius. When working with the Linked-Offset tool you have two options that decide how your offsets will be made in Inkscape, radius or sharp corner offsets.

I've attached an image that shows three squares:

    1) (yellow square) This is the original object that I will use the Linked-Offset tool with, it has four nodes, & sharp corners.

    2) (red square) This square has been Linked-Offset, the same way my Linked-Offset video shows, the offset is pulled away from the original object (yellow square).

    3) (blue square) This square has been made with the Linked-Offset, the difference is I pulled the single Linked-Offset node towards the center of the original square (yellow square).

After the Linked-Offset has created the sharp corner offset, scale the object larger, then lower to bottom, the same way as the Linked-Offset video.

You might try going to the gun Mfgr's or do a Google in their images section.
I used: "rifle with scope" and came up with over a million. Try this:
    Rifle with Scope
    "Inventor"
A "True" machinist loves it when they say: "That can't be Made"!!!

This is so rare i thought i'd share it with the group even tho it's not within the context of this group

we took all day to machine an EMS floor aft section that goes on a 141 eurocopter, blew off all the chips and upon inspection found a piece of foreign
metal within the .75x118x54 piece of 6061
thus kinda makin it a piece of scrap first time ive ever seen this
anybody else found any "surprises" in their stock?

    thanks

We often find Bullets in Cedar because not all Hunters are accurate shooters. But nothing like what you have found.

You find this stuff especially with Chinese Steel. Bolts and nuts are common fillers in their sheet metal.

We once found a 1" ball from a bearing in a 5" shaft we were trying to machine into the main drive for a trawler. Needless to say it was an expensive discovery. Turns out it was the resule of impatience on the part of the resmelter. (Recovered japanese steel was not exceptionaly good way back then.)

I am looking for a dxf of the continents for a globe project. If anyone has one it would sure save a huge amount of time for me, the company i work for still hasnt found a good jpeg to dxf converter. If you know of a good one for a waterjet that would help too. Thanks again.
Maybe this dxf will get you started?
