    Is this a good drive?

Knowing that some of the drives offered on Ebay are known to be less than satisfactory I was wondering if some of the more qualified members would mind taking a look at these and giving their opinion?

I know some members may be reluctant to post but it would be very much appreciated.

Has anyone bought and used these?

It looks like a driver based on an Allegro 3977 driver chip, I know Phil (Pminmo) has a board on his site using that chip and it works fine by all accounts, and it is what I would probably use if I was going to build a stepper board (not that I claim to be an expert )

You could have a look at his site and compare prices, I don't know how much you want to do yourself, but Phil usually has professionally made boards available ready to solder components to, have a look here :

The board you linked isn't exactly cheap but to sell any kind of driver and give any kind of support there would have to be some inclusion in the price for after sales time.

    Good luck !

Hi Russell and thanks for your time,

I’m not enquiring about this board for myself but know some UK based buyers are having a little difficulty finding a good source for low cost drives in the UK. I know members like Pminmo can often tell just by looking if a board looks to be well made and laid out.

It is not a bad price, but there is no optically isolated I/O, does not look like it has over voltage protection, and this is important if your supply is quite close to the 30V.
Also current settings look to be set by external resisters.
Pay about £5 more and get these features as standard.

    That would be the MSD325?

Just out of interest does your drive use the Allegro 3977 chip?
